Are The Learning Tree doors locked?

Safety is a top priority!  The building doors are open during drop-off and pick-up times, with a staff member there to say hello and goodbye. Otherise, they are locked to the public during school hours. Anyone entering the building must ring the bell and speak with a staff member.

How do I know when The Learning Tree is closed for weather?

The Learning Tree follows District 90 weather closings.

*Note: When District 90 conducts E-Learning days, The Learning Tree is closed.

We will also post on Facebook any closings.

Is The Learning Tree open during the summer?

Summer Programs are available ages 2-10. For more information, please email Heather at thelearningtreedirector@offumc.org

What other programs for children does The Learning Tree offer?

A Parents Morning Program is available for children 6 weeks-5 years.  PMO runs Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from Sept until April. Click here for more information.

What does a typical day at preschool look like?

A typical day at preschool begins with drop off and a morning table top or carpet activity, then whole group circle time.  Next is small group/independent learning, followed by a healthy snack, recess, then open center free play.  We end the day with another quick whole group circle time, or sometimes a dance party!  *This can change depending on our themes, special visitors like the fire department, and holiday celebrations.

What should I bring to preschool on a daily basis?

Please have your child bring a backpack with a complete weather appropriate change of clothes (including socks and shoes), a jacket for cooler weather as we do try to go outside as much as possible, and a water bottle.  Please have your child wear closed toe shoes.

What is the lunch enrichment and extended day add on?

Lunch enrichment is one hour, and allows your child to socialize with other students and prepares them for kindergarten lunch, from opening everything independently to cleaning up after themselves.  (Our preschool is completely nut free)  The extended day add on allows for more class time instruction, which is typically one or two teacher led small group times and additional free center play or recess.
